General Manager

Summary/Objective:
The General Manager at Ute Mountain Casino Hotel is responsible for delivering exemplary leadership, championing operational excellence, promoting strategic growth, and upholding fiscal responsibility while empowering other people to perform to the best of their abilities. Tasked with harmonizing the intricate dynamics of casino operations with the cultural values of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, the General Manager is both a strategic visionary and a pragmatic executor, steering the casino towards operational efficiency and financial success, in support of WDC Board of Directors and Ute Mountain Ute Tribal objectives.

In this capacity, the ideal candidate will exhibit an in-depth understanding of the casino gaming and non-gaming operations, outstanding financial astuteness, and people management skills, and an exceptional ability to foster relationships and maintain a high operational standard across all levels of the organization. The role demands a leader who not only drives operational success but also nurtures a culture of empowerment, innovation, and respect; ensuring the legacy of their leadership is ingrained in the fabric of the casino’s operations and community relations.

Qualifications:

General

  • Must be at least 21 years old to obtain a UMUGC Key License (required). Must be able to pass the UMUGC and CG background investigations (no financial crimes or other felonies).

Education

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, gaming operations/management, hospitality management, finance, or a related field. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Certifications

  • No certifications are required for this role. Proof of knowledge or the ability to quickly learn the following: Aristocrat, nVision, Loyalty, Agilysis, and Infogenesis and/or other systems as required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the casino/gaming industry required, with a preference for candidates who also have experience in the hospitality sector. Candidates with a blend of both casino/gaming and hospitality experience are preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior management or executive role in the gaming industry required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an operational oversight role in casino/gaming related operations.
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, and implementing best practices in gaming and hospitality management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial planning, budgeting, or some form of fiscal management experience. Experience in revenue optimization, cost reduction, and financial analysis.
  • At least 3 years of tribal gaming experience strongly preferred.

Engineer III (Electrician)

Summary/Objective:
The Engineer 3 position at UMCH is a vital role within the Engineering and Facilities department, designed for a skilled professional with a strong foundation, or perhaps a professional certification in one or multiple trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, etc.). This senior role supports the Engineering and Facilities Manager by ensuring projects are executed efficiently and effectively across the casino and its grounds. The Engineer 3 is expected to demonstrate high levels of organization and communication, assisting in the coordination of maintenance tasks and project schedules while liaising with multiple departments to ensure seamless operations. This role requires not only technical expertise but also a keen ability to prioritize tasks, mentor less experienced staff, and maintain a proactive approach to both day-to-day activities and larger-scale projects. Through strong leadership and exemplary workmanship, the Engineer 3 contributes significantly to the upkeep and improvement of UMCH facilities, enhancing the overall guest experience and operational success.

Qualifications:

General

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A college degree or a trade-school certification will be given priority.

Certifications

  • Any state/federal trade certification will be given priority.
  • Certified Electrician or Journeyman License w/ 7+ years experience strongly preferred.

Experience

  • At least three years of experience in Engineering & Maintenance or a similar field required.
  • At least 3 years of general computer experience
  • At least one year of leadership, supervisory, or project management experience preferred
  • Recent tribal gaming experience preferred.
